Stoilov, Vasil Antonov (1904-1990). Born 29.02.1904. in the village of Poduene (today a district of Sofia) in a large family. In 1922 he was admitted to the Art Academy in the painting class of Prof. Tseno Todorov. He graduated from the Academy with honors in 1927. In the same year, he participated in the First OHI with 4 paintings. From 1929 to 1932 he studied, lived and worked in Paris, supporting himself from his paintings. He participated in the salon of French artists, and organized a solo exhibition. After returning to Bulgaria, he actively participated in artistic life. He died in 1990 in Sofia. He has been a professor of painting since 1958. He works in all genres of painting – portraits, figurative compositions, domestic scenes, landscapes. There is a preference for watercolor as a technique, he chooses subjects from everyday working life. He created a gallery of deeply emotional images of rural madonnas, maidens, villagers, in which he reflected their spirituality. He rested on 13.02.1990 in Sofia
