Barakov, Vasil Hristov born on September 4, 1902, Kazanlak, died on November 27, 1991, Sofia. Vasil Barakov is a Bulgarian artist, painter, one of the group Baratsite (Together with David Perets and Zlatyu Boyadzhiev). Vasil Barakov is a master of the industrial landscape, he paints with a sweep, removing small details. At a later stage, he created canvases in an impressionistic spirit. He studied Painting at the Art Academy in Sofia under Prof. Tseno Todorov and Prof. Stefan Ivanov. He graduated in 1937 under Prof. Nikola Ganushev. He worked as a decorator in the Plovdiv Drama Theater (1940-1945). After 1950 he lived and worked in Sofia. The participation in most OHI and collective exhibitions abroad since 1935. Made two solo exhibitions in Sofia – in 1939 and in 1977, jubilee. His early landscapes are expressive, with pronounced relief forms, with saturated color and dense texture, without insignificant details. Works in the field of applied graphics and type.
