Georgi Dimitrov Baev (1924-2007) (also known by his nickname Jurlata) is an artist, marine artist. He was born in Burgas on November 9, 1924. In 1949, he graduated from the art academy in Sofia, majoring in painting, in the class of Academician Iliya Petrov and Prof. Dechko Uzunov. Until 1960, he mainly worked as graphics and scenography in the puppet theater in Burgas. Member of the SBH, honorary member and corresponding member of the Austrian Association of Artists “Künstler Haus”, of the Japanese Association of Artists “Nika-kai”… A difficult moment in his life was 1983, when his studio was set on fire and during the fire burns everything. In 1986, Baev became the winner of the Herder Prize of the Vienna Academy of Arts. He is featured in the 34-volume dictionary of the arts of the London publishing house “Macmillan”, repeatedly nominated for “Man of the Year”. Sought by gallerists at home and abroad, defined as a man with a touch, but with a heart and enormous power. His paintings were bought or donated in many places in Bulgaria.
