Biographical data about the author

VICHEV, Dimitar (6.II.1888-1948). Born in Shumen in the family of Vicho Ivanov Bakalov, a militiaman. Graduated from Shumen Pedagogical Three-Class School. He completed his military service as a corporal in the 31st Varna regiment. He studied at the art academy under P. Klisurov, Zh. Spiridonov, Hr. Berberov. In 1916 he was mobilized. He participated in World War I as a senior non-commissioned officer from the 7th Preslav Infantry Regiment. There is an open sheet from the Military History Museum at His Majesty’s Military School for searching and collecting materials for the museum. One of the first Shumen artists with an academic education in fine arts. Teachings. Founder of the Society of North Bulgarian Artists in 1920. With a certain attitude to the historical and archaeological treasures of the Shumen region.
