ZHARAVA, Dimitar Todorov Dimitrov (8.IX.1901-1988). Born in Shumen. From 1920 to 1930, he completed two majors at the Sofia Art Academy – painting under Prof. Nikola Ganushev and decorative art under Prof. Stefan Badzhov. From 1931 to 1944, he was one of the first illustrators of the children’s magazines “Svetulka”, “Detski Svyat”, etc. His paintings have participated in exhibitions in the country and abroad – Sweden, Holland, England, Canada and America. In 1938, he licensed the first animation technique. 1946-1948 worked and experimented in an animation studio. From 1948 to 1954, he was a director-producer at “Bulgarian Cinematography” and created the first animated films: “As He Likes It” – 1949, “Wolf and Lamb” – 1954, “Forest Republic” – 1955.
