Poplilov, Alexander Yonchev – born 12.05.1916, town of Kula, beg. 2001. He graduated from the National Academy of Sciences in Sofia in the class of Prof. Dechko Uzunov. In 1940 he became a member of the Society of New Artists. He himself was a professor at the Art Academy in Sofia. He worked in the field of painting, applied graphics and illustration. He illustrated books. In the field of applied graphics, he designed postage stamps with complex plot solutions: “Slavic Bulgarian History” – 1962. The font in Poplilov’s works is skilfully combined with the illustration and reflects the spirit and era of the literary works. He developed various dynamic, static and virtuosic forms of Cyrillic letters and thus enriched and contributed to the development of the art of the Bulgarian font. Arranges the exhibition halls of Bulgaria at fairs in Moscow, Zagreb, Milan, Izmir, Prague, Stockholm, Munich, Plovdiv, etc. He was the first to create a new way of exposition, to introduce new constructions – logical, constructive and light, which help to present the exhibit.
