Biographical data about the author

Denev, Boris Chokanov. Born on 02/07/1883, V. Tarnovo – died on 12/31/1969, Sofia. He mainly paints landscapes, but is the author of portraits and figurative compositions. He appeared as a self-taught artist in 1909 with his first solo exhibition. He specialized 1909 – 1914 in painting in Munich under Prof. Leo von Löftz, Karl von Maar and Angelo Yank. From 1914 to 1935 he was a military artist in Sofia. In the 1920s he worked for some time in Italy. He is the father of the artist Slavka Deneva (1929-1984). Both do not fit into the canon of social realism. Boris Denev was excluded from the SBH, which held his exhibition only in the 1980s.
