Fikret Islamov (1939 – 2009), “Still Life with a Bottle”, ca. 1980

Fikret Islyamov was born on April 13, 1939 in Ruse. Graduated from “Baba Tonka” high school. He was admitted to the National Art Academy in Sofia and in 1966 he successfully graduated as a painter under Prof. Nenko Balkanski. From 1967 to 1995 he held 16 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Germany and Turkey. From 1997 to 2003, he worked in Istanbul as a painting teacher at Marmara University. In 2003, he founded a private school for the preparation of candidate students for the higher art schools in Istanbul.
