Dalchev, Lyubomir Hristov Dalchev was born in 1902 in Thessaloniki. In 1926, he graduated in painting at the Art Academy in Sofia in the class of Prof. Nikola Marinov. Two years later he graduated in Sculpture at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Lupi. He continued his education with a specialization in Plastic Anatomy under Prof. Henri Mez at the Ecole des beaux arts in Paris in 1929. He was a member of the Society of New Artists. He created paintings from 1926 to 1933. After 1933, he focused mainly on sculpture, in its various types and genres: small sculpture, monumental sculpture, decorative sculpture. The materials he works with are stone, bronze, ceramics, wood, forged metals – copper, lead, aluminum. Between 1935 and 1937 he taught plastic anatomy at the Academy of Arts. Later he was a professor of Monumental Sculpture.
