Alexander Poplilov (1916-2001). Born on May 12, 1916 in the city of Kula. In 1940, he graduated from the National Academy of Arts, majoring in “Decorative Art” under Prof. Dechko Uzunov. Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists since 1941. Long-term member of state commissions and councils; he has repeatedly chaired and participated in juries. Since 1952 he has been a teacher at the National Academy of Arts – docent, professor and rector in the period 1962 – 1966. Creator of several generations of Bulgarian poster artists and artists. Works in painting, watercolor, drawing, poster, illustration, applied and fine graphics, caricature, book layout, typeface and other genres and forms of graphic design.
