Tsonev, Ivan Denchev Tsonev (1928-2017). Ivan Tsonev was born in 1928 in Shumen. In 1954, he graduated in architecture in Sofia. Throughout his creative activity, he worked as a theater artist. He created the scenography of over 250 productions. He made 49 tours abroad – Germany, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, etc. He has numerous participations in international exhibitions and in all national scenography exhibitions, from where he has received awards for excellence. Winner of the Award for Scenography of the I, II, III and IV National Review of Puppet Theaters – Sofia, the Award for Scenography of the Union of Artists in Bulgaria in 1976 and 1978. The Award for Scenography of the Union of Bulgarian Artists – 1977 First prize for scenography at the “Golden Dolphin” International Festival – 1975 and 1978, etc.
