Ivan Kanev (1935), “Saint Sophia Church”, 1978

Kanev, Ivan Petkov – born 29.03.1935, Nova Zagora. He mainly works in landscapes, still lifes and portraits. In 1963, he graduated from the National Art Academy with a degree in applied graphics in the class of Prof. Alexander Poplilov. He worked as a museum worker: from 1963 to 1968 at the Sliven Art Gallery, and from 1968 to 1973 at the National Art Gallery. Between 1973 and 1985, he worked in the Museums Directorate of the Culture Committee as a specialist in art galleries. From 1985 to 1993, he was the director of the Sofia City Art Gallery
